Show your work

Showcase terms

Last updated: 13 October 2026

These terms apply when you send us your work to be shown as a night in Supwrite. They are an agreement between you and Rahul Agarwalla, an individual based in India who publishes Supwrite under the name Modern Analog (“Supwrite”, “we”, “us”). Modern Analog is a trading name. It is not yet a registered company.

You send your work through the form that opens from inside the Supwrite app. By ticking the box on that form and sending it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not send anything. “You” means the person sending the work, a “creative” in these terms, whether a photographer, illustrator, author, designer or musician.

Our Privacy Policy says what we do with the details you give us.

1. What a night is

For 24 hours from 22:00 local time on the night we agree with you, your work is the only picture in Supwrite, shown to every reader. Readers write about it without being told what it is. When they finish, the app shows the story of the work, your credit and, if you gave one, a link.

Sending your work does not guarantee that it will be shown. A night is agreed only when we tell you, in writing (email is enough), the date it will run.

2. What you confirm

When you send your work, you confirm that:

  1. You made the work, or you have the right to license it on these terms, and nobody else’s permission is needed.
  2. It was made by a person. It is not generated, in whole or in part, by AI, and it is not made from someone else’s work without their permission. Ordinary editing, such as exposure, cropping and retouching, is fine. If you are not sure whether a tool you used counts, ask us before you send it.
  3. Anyone recognisable in it agreed to be photographed and shown, and nothing in it (a logo, a building, another artwork) needs someone else’s permission to be shown this way, or you have that permission.
  4. It is lawful. It is not defamatory, obscene, hateful, or unlawful in India, and it does not show or exploit a child.
  5. The facts you give us for the story are true. Supwrite’s whole promise is that the reveal is true.
  6. You are 18 or older, or a parent or guardian is sending the work and agreeing on your behalf.

3. What you allow us to do

You keep the copyright and every other right in your work. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:

  1. Show it in the app as the picture for the night we agreed, with its story and your credit.
  2. Keep it in readers’ archives. Every reader who opened that night keeps it, with its story, in the archive on their phone. This part of the licence has no end date and cannot be taken back, because we cannot reach into people’s phones (see section 4).
  3. Make the copies the app needs: resized versions, a blurred placeholder, and copies held by our content delivery provider.
  4. Let readers share postcards of it, only if you said Yes on the form. A postcard carries the picture, one line, the edition number and modernanalog.co/supwrite, and your credit unless the reader turns it off.
  5. Show it, credited, on our website and social accounts to announce or look back on the night, for up to 12 months after the night. We will stop when you ask.

We will credit you as you wrote it on the form, and we will not use your work in any other way without asking you first. We do not pay for work, and we do not charge for showing it. You keep the right to show your work anywhere else.

4. Please read this before saying yes: what runs cannot be recalled

Supwrite has no accounts and no server that can reach into people’s phones. Once your night has run, the picture and its story stay in the archive of every phone that opened it, and we have no way to remove them. We can stop serving it to anyone new; we cannot unsend it.

The app also downloads upcoming nights up to 7 days ahead, hidden until their night arrives. So:

  • More than 8 days before the night, you can withdraw for any reason, and nothing will have reached anyone.
  • Within 8 days of the night, you can still withdraw and we will replace the night. Phones that have already downloaded your work in advance keep a hidden copy until the replacement reaches them, and we will tell you if we cannot guarantee that it never appears.
  • Once the night has run, it stays where it has already gone. We will stop showing it on our website and social accounts if you ask.

To withdraw, email us at hi@modernanalog.co.

5. What we decide

  • Whether to run it. We accept work we would be glad to show, and turn down what we would not. We do not have to give a reason.
  • The story. We write the reveal from what you tell us, and we send it to you to check the facts before the night. We may edit for length and to keep the app’s voice.
  • Presentation. We may crop the picture to fit the app’s frame and resize it. We will not otherwise alter it.
  • Moving a night. If something outside our control stops a night running, we will offer you the next available night.
  • Removing it. If we receive a credible claim that the work infringes someone’s rights, or that something in section 2 is not true, we may stop serving it at once.

6. What we can tell you afterwards

Supwrite measures almost nothing, by design. After the night we can tell you roughly how many phones fetched the night’s picture, from our content delivery network’s request counts.

We cannot tell you who anyone was, how long they looked, or what they wrote. Your own analytics will show visits arriving from the link you gave, if you gave one. No figure is guaranteed.

7. If something in section 2 is not true

If a claim is made against us because something you confirmed in section 2 was not true, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we have as a direct result of dealing with that claim.

8. Our responsibility

We take care of your work and your credit, but we cannot promise that the app will always be available or free of errors. We are not responsible for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our failure, or for loss of profit or opportunity from a night, or from a night not running. None of this limits anything the law does not allow us to limit.

9. Free for now

Showing your work is free for now. We are keeping Supwrite free for its release. If we introduce a fee later, we will tell you before it applies to you, and it will not change a night you have already agreed.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The version in force when we agree your night is the one that applies to it. The date at the top says when it was last changed.

11. The rest

  • This agreement is governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Newtown, India have jurisdiction.
  • If one part of it cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • It is the whole agreement about your night. Changes must be in writing, and email counts.
